Freezing pipes and systems

Created by Keith Hathaway, Modified on Thu, 16 Jan at 11:14 AM by Keith Hathaway

A couple of ways to overcome water freezing within systems overnight:

  • Remove any plastic filters when finished, as this will reduce the risk of ice cracking these.
  • Drain the system of any water (means that water can’t freeze and expand)
  • Leave the back bumper ports open, allow any water that freezes to have an outlet, rather than kept within the system / pipes.
  • Cover the system with blankets / rugs overnight.

The Thermo2 has a feature which will circulate warm water throughout the night, if the sensor reads the temperature is going below 0.
